About us
Founded in 2020 by Meg Holloway, Maro Home Studio works direct with British-based craftspeople and workshops to bring considered designs to life, championing traditional skills and techniques.
Our ceramics and lamps are made by independent artisans in Leicestershire, and our bespoke sofa collections are made in a family-run workshop in Long Eaton.
Every single piece we sell is unique, it’s the wonderful nature of a handmade piece. From the undulations on our ceramic butter dishes, to the knots and gnarls found on our Strobe lampbases turned from a single oak piece or the hand-stitching on our tailored sofa covers required to achieve the perfect fit. We really care about the materials we use, and the people who we partner with to make our collections.
Each design is exclusive to Maro, you won’t find them anywhere else.
A note from the founder
The ethos behind Maro has always been to champion simple design made well.
The sofa collections have been 3 years in the design and prototyping. It's essentially everything I know from my background in product and marketing for a British furniture company poured into two simple, yet well made designs.
I tend to not buy into trends because in my book, great furniture should last a long time. But I do believe in having the option to refresh and rejuvenate pieces when they need it for even more mileage.
We also veer away from the use of chemically-treated foam and fabrics because I believe if you need to buy new, it should be as toxin free as it can be.
That's why our sofa covers are fully removable, and we'll happily work with any fabric you love - plain, print, pattern and best of all, vintage for something truly unique.
